Introduction to The IEC Blog

I have been talking with entrepreneurs for several months about the power they can capture through blogs both in writing a blog and in making comments to other blogs. As I have kept a personal blog several years ago before the term “blog” was even discussed as well as this past year’s adventures, I felt it was time to add a blog to the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center’s website. While the physical blog lies on WordPress.com’s server, this blog will serve the purpose of sharing entrepreneurship professional development tidbits.

The River Valley of Fort Smith offers a wealth of growth aspects for not only the communities within, but those cities, towns and neighboring counties. All of my life has been spent here, as an entrepreneur, I see great potential for new businesses. We have Target the anchoring store of the Fort Smith Pavilion opening this 4th Quarter. Just this past January 2008, the northern east part of the city welcomed the grand opening of the newest and biggest Wal-mart Super Center complete with a drive through Nursery/Garden center and now a Murphey USA 24/7 service operation, this makes 3 supercenters in Fort Smith with another just 3.5 miles across the Arkansas River on Hwy. 59 North in Van Buren, AR Crawford County, USA. Wow! More more chatter growth upcoming on this beautifully wonderful city, wear “life is truly worth living”, that one’s for you Mayor Ray Baker…
